Environmental product declarations

An EPD provides a clear view of a product’s environmental footprint throughout its life cycle, helping customers choose more sustainable options. By adhering to international standards, we ensure that the information is accurate and comparable, especially in terms of carbon footprint. An EPD is based on the life cycle assessment (LCA) methodology.

Our EPDs are certified by EPD-Norway, covering our widely-used 24.5 liters Hexagon Ragasco composite LPG cylinders, and the recently launched Linktra® Smart cylinder, 18.2 liters.

We are committed to transparency and accuracy in measuring the environmental impacts of our products. Our Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology provides an analysis of the potential emissions across the entire lifecycle of our products, from raw material extraction to disposal or recycling.

Our findings indicate that the use phase of our cylinders is the primary contributor to emissions, accounting for 53% of the total. This is a common pattern for products with long lifespans that are reused frequently. The production stage, driven largely by raw material extraction and processing, contributes 30% to the overall emissions. Additionally, waste handling at the end-of-life stage of the cylinders accounts for 17% of the emissions.

With guidance from Asplan Viak, a leading Norwegian consultancy in environmental impact and sustainability, we followed strict standards to achieve our declarations. Our Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA) meets EN 15804:2012 + A2 2019 and ISO 14040 standards, and our EPD aligns with ISO 14025:2010. These declarations were verified by SINTEF Community and Aase Teknikk, ensuring they meet the standards set by EPD-Norway.

EPD-Norway is the organization which lists the approved EPD’s in Norway. More than 1600 EPDs from over 190 companies are now published and freely available at EPD-Norway.
